Shari, like you, I have been told that my "looks could kill".  I have a habit of making facial expression especially when I'm

listening to someone who has no clue what they are talking about.   It's a behavior that I must learn to control.  I understand

that facial expressions and gestures can be misinterpreted but also can be viewed in a positive way as well.  Nodding your head

as a gesture can be interpreted as a gesture of agreement, or a firm handshake can be a sign of respect.  So many gestures

and facial expressions can mean different things to people especially in the workplace.

Willie, I admire you for being able to control your facial expressions.  I, on the other hand, have a problem keeping a calm

face.  I have a habit of making facial expressions when someone is talking to me and I use my hands a lot with talking to a

person. Now that I'm more aware of my non-verbal way of communicating, I am working on doing better so nothing I do will

be taken the wrong way.  This week's lesson on non-verbal communication has been a great topic to study.
