I use email very frequently throughout the day at my job. My organization would be perfectly fine because email is the way I often communicate in a place of business.

In today's society email is definitely a primary source of communication. Many business are moving in a different direction with communication. However, formal communication principles still take center stage. In the work place perception is everything. the reader interpretation of the message does not always match the tone of the message. It is hard to convey emotion in the form of an email. One of my primary sources of communication at work is email as well. I try to use the basic principles of letters and not use all caps when typing an email.

Although formal communication takes center stage, organizations are going towards more people friendly forms of communication. Instant messaging from company phones seem to appeal to people more than emails. The customers are more likely to see the message provided by phone number than email.

Willie, emailing seems to be the most efficient way to communicate within my organization as well.  being able to send a

message to a co-worker or someone in another department, is much easier than calling and/or leaving a voice mail on the

phone.  It's also important to edit your email before sending it to a recipient.  Making sure an email is clear and concise will

be beneficial to the person who is reading it. Keeping an email short and simple is another important factor when sending

an email.
