Re: Effective Business Communication - Audience Analysis
Posted in Collaboration > Forums on 1/11/2017 8:28:52 PM

Why do you think it is important to conduct an audience analysis prior to giving a presentation? Give examples.

It is very important that you understand the audience you are targeting. Knowing things like age, religion, sexual orientation allows you to adapt your speech so that it reaches your audiences level of understanding. For example you should always know the age demographic of your audience so that you can make sure that you speech is age appropriate. You always want to be sure you are not offending anyone. The analysis helps you to know who's in the audience allowing you time to perfect your speech so that you can create a link or common ground. This type of speech tweeking allows the audience to understand and respond favorably.

You are correct Sherita. The audiences behavior lets you know how your speech went over. Adapting your message to fit your audience helps you create common ground and links you two together which allows the audience to respond favorably at the end. This is very important!!

Adapting to you audience is also very important. Your end result is an audience that is comfortable and more knowledgeable. You want them to understand your message and respond favorably. Saying things that are age appropriate helps you to gain trust and create common ground. Any audience that is correctly analyzed will understand the message you were trying to get across because of the link created with then through the info you've presented.
