Quick cleaning of an apartment: basic rules

To clean an apartment quickly and without too much effort, you only need to follow a few simple rules. Learn how easy it is to keep your home sparkling clean!

Any living space needs regular cleaning, but it is not always possible to allocate the right amount of time to this work. When we come back from work late at night or spend the whole day taking care of a small child, we postpone cleaning our apartment to tomorrow, which will turn into the day after tomorrow, and the apartment will still remain untidy.

Fortunately, in order to keep the house in order, you do not need to devote an entire day to cleaning. One hour is enough to make a small apartment look neat, and even a few minutes of cleaning will give more results than constantly putting off household chores for later. So, let's not waste time and get down to business,  check !

Be sure to make a to-do list and plan how much time you want to spend on each of its items.

How do I prepare for the cleanup?

Taking a few minutes to prepare will save a lot of time and effort, especially when you have to clean your apartment quickly, since you won't have to rush around the house looking for this or that cleaner, or stand around wondering what you should do.

First of all, make a short list of things to do and plan how much time you want to spend on each of them. What exactly goes on that list depends on you, your home, your lifestyle and more, but here are some ideas:

  • pick up items that are scattered around the house and put clothes in the closet

  • dust furniture and appliances.

  • wash dishes.

  • Clean the sink, stove, and refrigerator in the kitchen and the shower and toilet in the bathroom.

  • Vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture.

  • Sweep and mop the floors.

Secondly, it is important to stock up on everything you need, making sure you have all kinds of sponges, rags and brushes on hand, as well as a universal cleaner, plumber's cleaner, toilet disinfectant, vacuum cleaner with different attachments, broom and mop for floor cleaning, and a pair of rubber gloves to protect hands.

Finally, no less important stage in the preparation for cleaning the apartment is the emotional mood. Give yourself the attitude that you can easily and quickly get things done in an hour, choose upbeat music and - let's do it!

A quick house cleaning in an hour:

  1. If you make a proper to-do list, it won't take you more than an hour to clean. Here we go:

  2. If you're the lucky owner of a dishwasher, put it to work. Otherwise, run hot water and detergent over the sink and soak all the dishes and the stove burners too.

  3. If there are traces of dirt and burnt food on your stove, treat them with a special cleaner, such as Cif Cream Active Lemon, and leave them to soak.

  4. Turn on the hot water in the bathroom so that the room is filled with steam.

  5. Treat the toilet bowl with a cleaner, such as Domestos, and leave it to soak in.

  6. Gather and place scattered items, arrange books on bookshelves, fold and put away clothes in the closet. In a quick cleanup, don't spend a lot of time sorting things; if some little things don't have room, they can be temporarily put in a box or bag and left until the general cleanup.

  7. Gather dirty clothes and send them to the washing machine.

  8. Remove all refrigerator contents, discarding expired food, and thoroughly wipe down the insides with antibacterial wipes.

  9. Wash the stove, countertops, and shelves and cabinet doors.

  10. Wash dishes and set them out to dry.

  11. Wash the kitchen sink.

  12. Wash the sink, tub, shower stall and toilet in the bathroom. Using a window cleaner, remove any drips from the walls and shower stall door to avoid limescale residue.

  13. Wash the mirrors and spray them with an anti-condensation spray.

  14. Wipe dust off shelves and wipe appliances with special wet wipes that help remove static electricity and delay the next cleaning day by 1-2 weeks.

  15. Vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture.

  16. Make the bed.

  17. Sweep the floor, moving from the farthest corners of the apartment toward the exit.

  18. Mop the floor, adding a disinfectant to the water if necessary - for example, Glorix is a chlorine-free disinfectant.

  19. Hang the laundry out to dry.

  20. Water the houseplants.

  21. Take out the trash.

That's it - and with the right approach, a quick house-cleaning session shouldn't take more than an hour, leaving you with plenty of time and energy to enjoy a nice, clean evening!

Stock up on everything you need in advance so you don't waste time looking for a rag, sponge, or cleaner.

Don't spend too much time sorting through things and put little things that don't fit on the shelves in a separate box.

A positive attitude and energetic music will help you get the job done faster and with more pleasure.
